PROFILE OF THE AUTHOR

Alistair has been in IT for 20 years now. He has been a Developer, Project Manager, IT Manager, Systems Analyst and Software Engineer. He has managed Global Projects but still can't manage to get his children to go to bed on time. He has been working with Java since 1996 and gave the first Java course for SAP Europe in Brussels in 2002. Alistair has lectured Java 2 and UML since 2000 and is the chairman of the local Java Users Group.

Alistair has also coded in C, C++, COBOL, Basic, Visual Basic, RPG II,III,400. He holds a bundle of diverse IT certifications and is a member of some fancy institutions which don't seem to enhance his career one iota. Alistair has spent roughly half his IT career in London and another half in South Africa, where he is an SAP Technical Consultant. He lives with his Wife, two small children, a black Labrador, a grumpy cat and some moles who live in the garden.
