In addition to buyer/seller integration, collaborative planning management, and supply chain management scenarios, the Marketplace™ supports a number of preconfigured, specific applications for collaborative e-business.

Business Directory

The Business Directory provides network information on buyers and sellers, as well as company information, product catalogs, contacts, and target market data. The Business Directory enables any company to register itself at the mySAP.com Marketplace™. In addition to supplying address and contact information, a company can categorize itself using UNPC product and service categories and subcategories. This feature will make it easy for potential suppliers and customers to find a company and its products and services.

The Business Directory uses the Internet-standard lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) to access the directory service engine, and it references businesses by Dun and Bradstreet DUNS ID number. The DUNS ID is the world’s most accepted numbering system for tracking business information.

Document Exchange

The Document Exchange provides a seamless, one-step way for buyers and sellers to exchange information in the Marketplace™. It will provide additional data fields that can be maintained by a company. This additional information will enable seamless execution of a business process. In a buyer-seller scenario, the selling party can add vendor or supplier master data to its entry in the business directory. On the buying side, this information will be used to create a vendor master record for the supplier in the buyer’s ERP system, in the background. This process takes place during the purchase requisition process. It enables integration of the purchase request into the accounts payable process of the buying company.

Distributor Reseller Management

The Web-based mySAP.com Distributor Reseller Management (DRM) Business Scenario offers a Web-based solution that enables a drastic improvement in the steps required to initiate, negotiate, and finalize agreements between manufacturers and their distributors or resellers.

The mySAP.com DRM reduces the cost of e-commerce to a level that allows even small companies to play. mySAP.com DRM, which is XML- and RosettaNet-compliant, provides the integrity, timeliness, and administrative efficiency missing in older methods. The self-service aspect of the mySAP.com DRM solution provides much better process controls and data accuracy.

RFP and RFQ matching

mySAP.com RFP and RFQ matching will reduce the administrative expenses of buying and selling by providing a central location where you can post, distribute, and match RFPs and RFQs. mySAP.com enables you to research and match the needs of your buyers with the capabilities of your suppliers through an intelligent classification system. Using mySAP.com, companies can also distribute RFP and RFQ changes without having to photocopy and mail a new copy of the document each time it changes.

Auctions

mySAP.com will aggregate both buyers and sellers into two online auction types: cross-industry markets and industry-specific markets. In both areas, mySAP.com will offer open and private markets. Customers can benefit from auctions to clear excess inventory. In the past, customers had to rely on a good network of personal connections to clear inventory. Now, through mySAP.com, they can access a much larger network and get a better price.

Services

The Marketplace™ presently offers over 20 different Web services from partners in areas such as CRM, office, travel, career, HR, reference, and more. All Marketplace™ users can access these services. Services can be integrated or non-integrated. Integrated services allow users to connect their back-office systems through the Marketplace™. Both integrated and non-integrated services offer single sign-on, so a user can log on to the Marketplace™ and use any service without having to log on again separately.
